What are the best mobility exercises in the world?

If, for some strange reason, I could only pick a few mobility exercises and flexibility drills to perform on the regular, these would be the ones. All awesome for improving performance, looking after your joints, and enjoying pain-free movement in everyday life. Give them a try and see how they feel. If they’re a piece of cake, great job. 3 Of My All-Time Favourite Mobility Exercises

Just three simple drills, but a whole load of mobility gainz.

1 / Wall Facing Overhead Squat

Why – Amazing for overhead shoulder mobility, thoracic extension, hip mobility and core stability. How – Get into an overhead squat, stood as close to wall as possible. Keep outward tension on the band and the spine straight. Squat down as low as possible with good form. Regression – Go wider on the band or step further away from the wall.

2 / Lunge + Twist

Why – Perfect for opening up tight hip flexors, activating the core and rear glute, and we get that nice thoracic twist and activation of the mid back. How – Long lunge, rear glute engaged. Plant the opposite hand to the front knee and twist, squeezing shoulder blades together. Regression – Back knee down lunge.

3 / 90-90 lifts

Why – I love this one for improving internal and external rotation at the hips, glute strength and overhead mobility How – Get down into that 90-90 position, squeeze glutes and thrust hips. You can lift weights overhead of an extra challenge. Regression – Use hands for support and/or sit on a block. [divider style=”solid” height=”1px” color=”#eeeeee”]
